Clinical Lead Advanced Practice Physiotherapist in Pain Management - Royal Free Pain service

37.5 hours per week (24-month fixed term contract)

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a highly motivated Advanced clinical practice physiotherapist to lead our team of Pain management physiotherapists at the Royal Free London. We are looking for a clinical leader who has experience working in Pain management as an Advanced practice physiotherapist and who also has some experience of operational service delivery. As well as providing clinical leadership and line management to the team of specialist pain management physiotherapists, you will work alongside and integrate with the Pain management multi-disciplinary team of Medical consultants, Psychologists and Nurses to support the holistic approach supporting people with persistent pain and long-term health needs.
The successful candidate is required to be able demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification

- oBSc Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
- oHealth and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
- oPostgraduate training or development in clinical skills up to MSc level or equivalent with a focus in pain management
- oEvidence or portfolio of post-graduate continued development
- oPostgraduate training or development in management and leadership skills

- oSubstantial postgraduate experience in musculoskeletal field including pain management
- oAdvanced knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of patients with a wide variety of conditions including complex chronic pain conditions

- oExperience of delivering group work
- oExperience in managing highly distressed patients in group and individual settings
- oExperience of supervising senior qualified staff
- oActive involvement in clinical audit, research and policy/ guideline implementation

- oHighly specialist knowledge within the pain management field and ability to apply this in a clinical setting
- oKnowledge of recent developments in the profession
- oTo be competent in the decision-making process and requesting investigations as necessary to aid in diagnosis or direct management of patient's e.g. x-rays, MRI, blood tests, EMGs, ultrasound, listing for surgery in line with protocols and guidelines. This will require highly advanced clinical reasoning and highly developed problem solving and analytical skills and is beyond the normal scope of physiotherapy practice.
