We are seeking a Senior Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly and dynamic medicines management team at Royal London Hospital. You should hold a BTEC or NVQ Level 3 (Pharmaceutical Services) qualification or equivalent and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

We require an individual with drive, enthusiasm, excellent communication skills (verbal/written) and have the ability to work under pressure. You should be a team player, able to perform effectively within the pharmacy and wider healthcare settings. The role will have provision to support medicine management duties at ward level.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work on the wards and deliver quality care to patients at ward level through efficient medicines optimisation. This will include the assessment of patient's own drugs, medicine reconciliation, original pack dispensing at ward level, counseling patients about their medicines and coordinating the supply of discharge medication. The post holder will work with their ward based team to continually develop the service, while maintaining high standards and achieving best practice to meet the needs of patients and the Trust. The role will also involve dispensary based responsibilities.

Essential

  • oExperience of working in a hospital pharmacy setting
  • oSignificant experience as a pharmacy technician
  • oMedicines management experience in a ward based setting, e.g. medication history taking, POD assessment etc.
  • oDispensing
  • oPharmacy labelling and stock control systems
  • oPatient counselling
  • oExperience of pharmacy stock distribution and top-up services

  • oManagement of staff
  • oEducation & training of staff
  • oRecruitment and selection experience


Qualifications

Essential

  • oBTEC Pharmaceutical Sciences /NVQ 3 or equivalent
  • oRegistration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • oAccuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification
  • oHEE LaSE Medicines Optimisation qualification or equivalent


Desirable

  • oPractice Supervisor, Train the trainer or equivalent qualification
  • oILM Level 3 Leadership and Management qualification or equivalent
  • oMember of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK)
