LOCATION: Histopathology Department, Bradford Royal Infirmary.
Integrated Pathology Solutions LLP is an innovative joint-venture pathology service between Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. This partnership delivers a high quality pathology service through collaboration between three Trusts for the benefit of patient and service users.
The Department of Histopathology is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, well- motivated HCPC Registered Band 5 BMS who has recent experience of a functional Histopathology laboratory. The post will primarily be based at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
The Department of Histology is ISO15189:2012 accredited and is also a recognised HCPC / IBMS training laboratory. The successful candidate should be familiar with the organising and functioning of the Dissection Room.
The post will be primarly based at Bradford Royal Infirmary. The successful candidate will liaise with the senior BMS to ensure specimens are triaged appropriately and perform simple transfer in line with their scope of practice. Additionally, they will perform the collection and preparation of Renal Biopsies as well as assisting with pathologist cut ups.
The candidate will also communicate with Airedale Histology to aid in efficient workflow across the two sites.
PLEASE NOTE: All interviews will be Face to Face only. No remote interviews available.
Main duties of the job
To work in the various areas of the Histopathology Department under the direction of the Section Leader providing an efficient, safe and high quality technical service. This will include the provision of technical advice to clinical staff.
To work as part of the Pathology team providing mutual support at all times ensuring that work is completed and that equipment is maintained appropriately. This may involve liaising with service engineers to resolve complex issues.
To liaise with other health care professionals and agencies to provide advice.
To undertake and comply with all departmental standard operating procedures and quality standards with regard to work selection and methods.
