An opportunity has arisen for a Safeguarding Adults and Mental Capacity Act Specialist Practitioner to join the Safeguarding Adults team here at Bradford Teaching Hospitals.
The post holder will assist the Assistant Chief Nurse for Vulnerable Adults carry out operational Safeguarding in line with the Care Act 2014 and regional guidance across Bradford NHS Foundation Trust. They will provide specialist advice, training, and safeguarding supervision in relation to Safeguarding Adults and the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).
If you are passionate about safeguarding, are an experienced UK registered health or social care professional, have a high level of expertise in safeguarding, Think Family, capacity assessments, best interest decision-making, least restrictive practice, deprivations of liberty, Domestic Abuse and Prevent and are passionate about supporting staff in dealing with situations that are difficult, complex and uncertain, and you share our enthusiasm and commitment to ensuring the safety of adults in our care we want to hear from you!
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as a professional resource to practitioners within Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust providing advice, safeguarding supervision, guidance and support.
The post holder will be responsible for providing expert advice on the Human Rights Act, the Care Act, the Mental Capacity Act, domestic abuse and Prevent.
The post holder will be proactive in the delivery of mandatory and bespoke training across the Trust.
The post holder will support patients who disclose abuse as well as liaison with other external professionals in ensuring robust arrangements and information sharing are in place to prevent further abuse,.
Although required to work across sites the post holder will be based at Bradford Royal Infirmary.

Qualifications

- Registered nurse, Registered Health Professional or Social Worker
- Health Service related Degree/Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Short courses at Masters level or equivalent experience, specifically in Mental Capacity Act
- Highly specialist training in safeguarding.
- Mentorship/teaching qualification or equivalent
- Evidence of on-going professional practice development with the safeguarding Adult's area.
