Intensive Care Staff Nurse, Band 5- Full time 37.5hrs a week.

We are excited to be able to offer and welcome applications for a post in the Intensive Care Unit at Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH). Excitingly, the ICU has recently moved into a new, state of the art building, currently occupying 31-beds of it's 55 bed capacity.

RSCH is the main tertiary referral hospital in Sussex, seeing a variety of emergency, neurosurgical, acute medical, maternity and complex elective surgery patients. We work closely with our Trust hospitals, mainly the Princess Royal Hospital ITU in Haywards Heath, where there will be an expectation for staff cover if required. There are often chances for cross site working and rotational opportunities available.

We are excited to be able to offer and welcome applications to our friendly team, dedicated to providing the highest standards of care to critically ill patients. Excellent team players are essential for these opportunities.

We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration. If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking enthusiastic, kind and compassionate nurses, with ideally with some acute ward nursing experience. This is a great opportunity to help care for the most critically ill patients in the hospital, developing new skills and expanding your knowledge. We offer full, structured orientation, with supportive training and development using the Critical Care Steps template. There are study days within the trust that will ensure your skills remain up to date.

The registered nurse will work within the critical care team planning, monitoring and evaluating care for level 2 and 3 patients and supporting their loved ones. They will follow a nationally accredited critical care programme of competencies to gain knowledge and skills in this specialist area of nursing.

They will, as part of the wider team, support students who rotate into critical care.
