The recruitment team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and motivated individual for the role of Specialist Nurse within the surgical Skin Cancer and Sarcoma service.
This is a role which gives exciting clinical opportunities. If you are looking to expand on your current skills in surgery, within the speciality of plastic surgery, this could be the role for you.
The Skin Cancer and Sarcoma service works closely with the wider multi-professional team (MPT), looking after a caseload of patients requiring surgical management with complex wound needs. Following training the post holder will cover both an in-patient and out-patient caseload and play a key role in the support of the Skin Cancer and Sarcoma surgical service.

Job responsibilities
As part of this role, you will actively manage a caseload of both inpatient & outpatients working as an independent practitioner under the supervision of the lead Specialist Nurse Practitioner.
Following training this will involve running a Nurse Led Outpatient clinic reviewing complex surgical wounds (for example skin grafts and flaps) and reviewing post operative inpatients as well as managing ad-hoc queries and patient related concerns.
You will act as a link between the medical and ward nursing staff to expedite patient care, teach, and support the Multi Professional Team.
Working collaboratively with our administrative services you will develop and ensure robust case management systems and tracking of patients under our care.
You will need to be able to demonstrate further evidence of speciality competence within Plastic Surgery and evidence decision making skills.
This role may involve cross site working and is 30 hours across 4 days, with flexibility of these 4 days required between Monday to Friday.

- Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register
- Degree qualification, 120 credits at L6 or possess an equivalent knowledge to be assessed through evidence of relevant specialist training, experience or portfolio
- Significant post registration experience / qualification / training, including experience and knowledge within relevant speciality
- Completion of all Band 5 (preceptorship) competencies
