There is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative Physiotherapist with high-level team skills to join the Children and Young Person's Weight Management Service. The successful applicant will be joining the multi-disciplinary service, offering a unique opportunity to influence, shape and develop the service.

The post is permanent, full time (37.5 hours per week), and provides a service across the Swansea Bay University Health Board areas in a variety of settings.

We are looking for a Physiotherapist with an excellent clinical knowledge and experience of working within children, young people and their families.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to work with high level of autonomy managing a complex caseload and should be able to demonstrate a strong ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will be responsible for the physiotherapy care of overweight and obese children including those with additional learning needs, multiple health concerns and complex social circumstances.

The team will consist of a clinical lead, a psychologist, a dietitian, a consultant paediatrician and support workers and will work to the All Wales Obesity Pathway for Children and Young People and Welsh Government standards. The post holder will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with children, young people, families, team colleagues and the wider systems, offering a broad range of interventions to include 1:1 as well as group interventions.

You will have the opportunity to supervise and mentor members of the team as well as receive supervision and mentoring in your role.

We offer both departmental and personal CPD time to support your development and are committed to the development of evidenced based practice, research and clinical audit. You will be supported in attending relevant professional networking meetings, interest groups and relevant CPD opportunities.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Professional registration with HCPC
  • Post registration training in relevant area.


Desirable

  • Recognised management/ leadership qualification


Knowledge

Essential

  • MSc or its equivalent level of knowledge and advanced post graduate training/experience in relevant areas
  • Knowledge of the workings of Paediatric Physiotherapy services
  • Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues


Experience

Essential

  • Substantial broad range and specialist Paediatric experience.
  • Experience of specialist knowledge including Management of Common Paediatric disorders such as obesity, learning disabilities, diabetes and ASD
  • Substantial experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Supervision experience of students, physiotherapy assistants and junior staff.


Desirable

  • Experience of strategic planning process.
  • Experience of policy / service development.


Aptitude and Abilities

Essential

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including developed oral and written communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good problem solving and analytical ability.
  • Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate.
