We are looking for a dynamic highly motivated theatre Sister/ODP/Charge Nurse to join the forward thinking team in the new Day Treatment Centre (DTC). The DTC consists of an admission area, 4 operating theatres, a day case assessment area and recovery suite.

This is an unique exciting opportunity for an individual with extensive experience working in a theatre environment, who is dedicated to improving patient care through effective leadership and management across the DTC pathway. This centre will enable our teams to carry out thousands of additional low complexity procedures in specialties such as musculoskeletal health (MSK), urology, surgery and some cardiothoracic services. Our teams include anaesthetic, recovery and scrub/circulating nurses/ODPs/HCA's, Assistant Practitioners and Nursing Associates and there is great scope for career progression with specialist roles.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to develop and maintain good department management and organisational skills as well as promote the delivery of high standards of patient care and operational oversight. You will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Scrub experience is essential and Quality Improvement experience is an advantage. The role will consist of working across all theatre specialties whilst leading in admission and discharge.

You must be able to demonstrate a compassionate approach to the care of patients and public whilst also possessing the ability to ensure robust operational demands are met.

You will act as a role model and provide an environment conducive to the support of qualified and unqualified staff whilst enhancing the patient's journey and experience.

Support and opportunities will be given in developing your managerial and leadership skills that will be required for this challenging yet very rewarding role.

Job responsibilities

  • To support the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse / Senior ODP, acting as a deputywhen the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse / Senior ODP is absent.
  • In areas within the organisation Nurses / ODPs may be banded at 6 by virtue clinical reasons, for example, critical care.
  • Provide effective support and leadership to both staff, patients and carers within the Theatre or Department.
  • Act as role model, teacher and supervisor for junior staff and students.
  • Ensure systems are in place to provide the continuity of safe effective care for patients at all times.
  • Effective member of the multi-disciplinary team

  • Meets Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) / Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) requirements for mentorship
