Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager - Maple A Ward (specialist surgery)

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Registered Nurse to join the Maple A team.

We are looking to employ a band 6 deputy ward managers (25.2 hours / 0.67 WTE) to join our friendly, hardworking and ambitious surgical ward team. If you would like to lead a ward team and be able to develop your leadership and management skills whilst being supported by the ward manager and surgical matron then this is an excellent opportunity for you .

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills and be committed to driving improvements forward. Maple A has 22 beds and is a fast paced acute ward which looks after patients from multiple surgical specialties including vascular, ENT, head and neck and urology. This is to cover maternity leave for 12 months. A great opportunity to gain new skills.

Main duties of the job

Leadership of the team with the ward manager and Matron, ensuring the delivery of high quality care for our patients, roster management, team management, audit and governance activity, participation in local and Trust improvements. Mentoring newly qualified and students. Return to work sickness interviews. Recruitment .

Healthcare Professionals returning to practice, moving into new roles or changing clinical environments, may access an agreed preceptorship period.

Disclosure and Barring Service:

The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: �18 + Administration cost of �3.85 = �21.85. Deducted at �6.85 from 1st month salary and �5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Enhanced Check: �38 + administration cost of �3.90 = �41.90. Deducted at �11.90 from 1st month salary and �10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse, with active registration
  • NST 307 or equivalent.
  • Relevant training at level 2 or equivalent.


Desirable

  • Further relevant training at level 3 or equivalent
  • ECDL or equivalent
