Ambulatory care is an innovative way of providing a safe, patient focused, flexible, same day emergency service for appropriate patients. The service aims to prevent unnecessary hospital admission and provide a better patient's experience. Our Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) offers easy access to early diagnostic tests, specialist staff, and review by a hospital consultant in one place.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work within a multidisciplinary team supporting the Consultant led Unit within the Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) directorate.

Job responsibilities
We are looking for someone to manage the Unit for a 10 month secondment period with responsibilities to include:
Being an expert clinical role model.
Managing and leading the Unit nursing staff in liaison with deputies.
Collaborative working with the Practice Development Team and operational team, including external teams, to ensure effective working relationships.
Leading by example to motivate, develop and establish a well-trained, competent workforce to deliver safe and effective care to all patients within the ward / department.
Coordinating nursing and multi professional activity within the clinical setting, ensuring that there is appropriate skill mix for the patient caseload within available resources.
Promoting and role modelling effective communication within the nursing and multi professional team, to patients, carers and visitors. Receive and report sensitive information.
Managing and promoting change and improvement.

- Relevant Professional Registration - NMC or equivalent
- 4 years post registration experience
- Evidence of leadership qualities
- Teaching qualification or mentorship module
- Expert clinical role model who is committed to improvement of standards and patient care.

- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- ILS / ALS trained
