Assistant Service Manager Orthodontics (Dorset)
Head and Neck and Specialist Medicine
Family and Surgical Services Division
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Service Manager within the Head & Neck and Specialist Medicine care group within the Family and Surgery Division at Dorset County Hospital. This post will act as lead operational role for the Dorset wide Orthodontics service at DCH and UHD.
Applicants will be expected to work with a wide variety of health care professionals across the division and wider trusts at DCH and UHD, be enthusiastic, motivated and with a passion for service development.
Dorset County Hospital is located just a few miles from the Jurassic coastline, some of the best in the country, it's a great place to live and a great place to work. The role will also require the successful applicant to also work at University Hospital Dorset. In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with over seven miles of sandy beaches you'll find inspirational opportunities to achieve your perfect work/life balance. With the New Forest and the Purbecks on our doorstep, we're also less than three hours from London by road or train. Main duties of the job
To provide leadership and day to day management focusing on the delivery of services in the Orthodontic service across Dorset County Hospital and the University Hospital Dorset site.
To provide line management to medical and administrative staff within the care group at DCH and support at UHD.
To work collaboratively with the Orthodontic team at both Dorset County Hospital and University Hospital Dorset.
To specifically improve the quality of care provided to Orthodontic service at both sites.
Develop and maintain standards of the quality of care in line with national performance targets and trust initiatives and polices.
To work with and support the Deputy Divisional Director of Operations, Clinical Leads, Divisional Director of Operations, Divisional Director, Managers and Heads of Service across both organisations to provide cohesive management team for the service.

- Masters or equivalent management qualifications
- Specialist knowledge to post registration/graduate diploma level

- Significant and recent operational middle management experience involving budgetary, staff and service management in an acute hospital setting
- Experience in the management and delivery of significant organisational change programmes
- Evidence of experience in developing and implementing service/business planning
- Experience of project management or work where specific time-limited objectives must be achieved
