There is a vacancy for a Research Registrar in General Surgery (Pelvic Floor Service).

The post is based at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Wythenshawe. The post is available from 1st August 2024 for a period of 12 months, renewable to two to three years providing satisfactory progress is made. The purpose of the post is submission for an MD or PhD and satisfactory progress toward that aim is the key criterion for renewal at 1 year.

The post will include an on-call commitment as a 1:10, 12 hour on-call (resident).

The appointment is on a whole-time basis.

Research Project Title: Clinical and Molecular Characteristics of Genital and Cutaneous Crohn's disease

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be at Specialist Registrar level and have an interest in pursuing a career in coloproctology. Applicants should be capable of working at Registrar level on the on-call rota and have a demonstrable interest in research. Candidates should also have a willingness to gain a higher degree by thesis.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Medical degree
  • MRCS
  • Full registration (or eligible for full registration) with the General Medical Council


Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 years' full time or equivalent part time hospital service in the ST1-2 (SHO) grade or higher
  • 2 years' experience in Surgical Specialty
  • Current/past SpR post in General Surgery
  • Experience of Audit
