Applications are invited from highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join the Clinical Effectiveness Unit as a project Facilitator. Working within an established team, the successful candidate will be expected to provide advice and support to clinicians on a variety of multi-professional clinical effectiveness projects.

Main duties of the job

Provide a specialist advice and support service to healthcare professionals with the aim of promoting evidence-based practice and ultimately improving the quality & outcomes of clinical care for patients.

Have key involvement in the delivery of a prioritised Trust Clinical Audit Programme of projects.

Communicate audit results and other clinical effectiveness information (e.g. basic training on clinical audit methods), both orally and in writing, to multi-disciplinary / speciality clinical audiences

Liaise with clinicians and other healthcare professionals for the development of audit project databases and advise on data analysis methods.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent


Desirable

  • Clinical Qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Post-graduation experience of working in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment & liaising with healthcare professionals.
  • Report writing / presentation experience


Desirable

  • Experience of working in clinical audit, research or patient experience
  • Experience of co-ordinating teams, teaching small groups, interviewing patients


Further Training

Essential

  • Excellent clinical audit knowledge & skills
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience of data management e.g. data analysis, interpretation of results, basic statistics


Desirable

  • Clinical effectiveness skills e.g. literature searching, critical appraisal, study design
  • Knowledge of hospital information systems and coding principles

  • Flexible, can demonstrate able to work as part of a team or independently


Desirable

  • Understanding of confidentiality and medical terminology oaccurate othorough opersistent otactful and diplomatic


Special Skills/Aptitudes

Essential

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to relate effectively with senior clinical / managerial staff.
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to prioritise workload and use initiative
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Professional package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access database design)

  • Time management skills with ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of statistical packages (esp. SPSS)
