This is an excellent opportunity to support our Trust's information governance function. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has significant experience in the world of NHS information governance, has sound technical experience, understands the information governance world and can bring expertise in information sharing, data security breach management, information asset management, information governance audit and information governance training.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an experienced Information Governance Manager who has an excellent understanding of NHS information governance and has successfully delivered on the many different areas of information governance. You will have expert information governance knowledge, be an effective communicator, a good team player and experienced manager.

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • oEducated to degree level in a relevant subject or have equivalent experience
    • oBCS qualification in data protection or AI or another information governance or security area


    Experience

    Essential

    • oExperience of information governance within an NHS environment
    • oExperience of effectively managing high volumes of information governance related documentation
    • oExperience of managing data security breaches
    • oExperience of drafting and delivering information governance training to a wide range of individuals with differing levels of comprehension
    • oExperience of working to tight statutory deadlines
    • oExperience of managing information asset registers, especially where asset owners may have little understanding of their requirements
    • oExperience of managing relationships with external suppliers and contractors
    • oExcellent track record of managing multiple concurrent projects and deliverables against conflicting priorities
    • oExperience of managing a team
    • oExperience of effectively managing data security breaches
    • oExperience of undertaking information governance audits
    • oExperience of using NHS clinical systems
    • oProven experience of providing high level, detailed advice on information rights principles, often where no precedent has been set


    Knowledge and skills

    Essential

    • oExcellent interpersonal skills including relationship building, negotiation & diplomacy with managers & staff at all levels
    • oWell developed ability to weigh up a range of options to give information governance advice in what may be a contentious situation or in response to legal action
    • oExcellent level of technical / digital skills
    • oHigh level of Excel skill including the ability to manipulate data, provide charts, reports etc
    • oAbility to deal with an unpredictable work pattern, maintain composure under pressure, deal with frequent interruptions and work to tight deadlines
    • oAbility to interpret and challenge technical or digital advice and solutions
    • oExtensive knowledge and understanding of the information governance legislative framework
    • oIn depth knowledge of the requirements of privacy by design processes
    • oIn depth knowledge of the requirements of data security breach reporting
    • oGood knowledge of cyber security issues and the governance requirements necessary to reduce risk
    • oHigh level of understanding of the Data Security & Protection Toolkit
    • oIn depth knowledge of the management of information asset registers
    • oIn depth knowledge of the requirements of an information governance audit
    • oExtensive knowledge of how to respond to requests for information / disclosure to data subjects, their representatives, police, Courts and other agencies
