This post is a Fixed term/ Secondment for 10 months to meet the needs of the service.

To manage administrative functions, providing comprehensive business support for the Rapid Diagnosis Clinic (RDC) service including the line management of all RDC admin staff. The post-holder leads the organisation, delivery and development of the administrative side of the Rapid Diagnosis Clinic Service within BCUHB.

The post holder plans and prioritises his/her own workload, including long-term tasks in support of the RDC. Required to work without immediate referral to Senior Management. Expected to use owninitiative and to problem solve effectively.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

This important service is for patients referred by their GP with vague but serious symptoms indicative of cancer. The aim is to evaluate patients promptly but effectively and with dignity, to enable a timely, definitive diagnosis to be found. The successful candidate for this role will manage all the non-clinical functions of the RDC service.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in administration or related subject or equivalent experience
  • ILM Level 3 or equivalent experience
  • ECDL qualification or equivalent knowledge


Desirable

  • RSA Stage 2 (Typing or work processing) or equivalent qualification
  • Knowledge of cancer services in Wales, Cancer Outcome measures, RDCs and National Optimal Pathways


Experience

Essential

  • Experience in a supervisory position (with line management responsibility)
  • Significant experience in an administrative position
  • Significant experience of working without direct supervision
  • Working in an environment under pressure and to strict deadlines


Desirable

  • Previous experience of working within a hospital, ideally within cancer or a clinical support services
  • Preparation of complex data and reports using software
