We are looking to appoint enthusiastic motivated individuals to help lead and support our large nursing team. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their ability to support the management of the unit, manage a team of nurses, support staff within the challenging critical care environment and have knowledge of the multi-faceted NHS. This role requires strong leadership skills to uphold the standards and values of CTCCU.

The unit is the North West Centre for Cardiopulmonary Transplantation. We have an established respiratory ECMO service and as part of our heart failure service the unit is able to provide cardiac ECMO.

Main duties of the job

The Unit consists of a 31 bedded purpose built Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit combing both level 2 and level 3 care. As a team we are committed to delivering the highest standard of care. The unit encourages and supports staff development to progress your career.

Substantial experience within the cardiothoracic critical care speciality, experience in mentoring , education to diploma level, evidence of level 3 studies,ENB100, critical care course and evidence of personal development are expected of all candidate.

The post is will be subjected to 24hrs internal rotation.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered nurse
  • Diploma (or equivalent experience)
  • Evidence of post qualification specialist study in Critical Care
  • Assessor / mentor qualification


Desirable

  • Leadership qualification
  • Degree


Experience

Essential

  • Able to demonstrate understanding of a band 6 role
  • CT Critical Care experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Experience of regularly managing a co-hort of patients
  • Experience of clinical audit
  • Leading a team
  • Evidence of motivation


Desirable

  • Experience of working within other areas of nursing
  • Working with multidisciplinary students
