A rare opportunity to be part of the most fabulous Community Diabetes Service!

Based in Gloucestershire, we are looking for a Diabetes Specialist Dietitian to join our incredibly loyal, supportive and valued team.

Our predominantly Type 2 service is currently provided by a Consultant, 5 Specialist Nurses, 3 Dietitians, 3 Nutritionists, a Health Care Professional Educator and 2 Administrators. We also take students across the trust on an annual basis.

Our team values focus on delivering outstanding patient care whilst supporting our team and each individual's development, effectiveness and autonomy, within a service who treats everyone with respect and equality.

The service is highly valued by both Primary and Secondary care, working to support the upskilling of health care professionals within our own trust and the primary care networks to manage Type 2 diabetes effectively.

We also hold a caseload of complex patients requiring specialist support and our registered nutritionists provide structured education for all patients living with Type 2 Diabetes.

For an informal discussion or to arrange an informal visit please contact Sarah Hughes (sarah.hughes6@ghc.nhs.uk), Lead Diabetes Specialist Dietitian or Marie Orford (marie.orford@ghc.nhs.uk) Diabetes Specialist Dietitian on 0300 421 8163

Main duties of the job

We actively encourage ongoing learning and involvement in specialist groups such as the British Dietetic Association Diabetes Group and Diabetes UK, ensuring you have the confidence and ability to fulfill your role.

We are keen to find someone with knowledge and skills in managing Type 2 Diabetes who wants to feel valued and work as part of a service who really cares about their team, offering flexibility and a platform to make a difference to those living with diabetes.

We would welcome contact to discuss the role further prior to applications being submitted so please do get in touch.

The successful applicant will be required to drive to sites around Gloucestershire and therefore must hold a UK Driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.

There may be opportunities for additional hours with other services depending on experience.

About us

At Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, we are supportive of the people we care for in the community and aim to provide a fully responsive service to everyone who needs it. This is the same approach we take for our employees. We look to value the skills and experiences of those we work with, whether they are service users, carers, families or those looking to work with us.

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is part of the NHS. We treat NHS patients according to NHS principles and standards. The difference is the Trust is accountable to local people, rather than to Government, and so we are able to work closely with our community to develop services in the way that best suits the needs of local people.

Our Staff Survey results showed people at our Trust feel they are engaged, part of a team and work for a compassionate and inclusive organisation.

Our overall scores were better than average in eight of nine themes and level in one - the best overall results for a community, mental health and learning disabilities Trust in the south west and first equal amongst all sector NHS providers within the region too.
