Job Details

North Stoke CAMHS are looking to expand their Occupational Therapy provision, and are seeking to appoint a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to work in our friendly and supportive team.

The North Stoke CAMHS team is a well-established multi-disciplinary team that works with children and young people aged 0 - 18 years. There are professionals from a range of backgrounds in the team, including psychiatry, nursing, psychology, social work and CBT therapists. The team is one of three community CAMHS teams in the region.

We are looking for a Occupational Therapist who is keen to experience working with a range of mental health difficulties, enjoys being a part of a multi-disciplinary team, and is committed to delivering high quality services for children, young people and their families. North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust operates flexible working for staff which includes working from home, as well as from a base, to deliver CAMHS services. We are keen to explore new and innovative ways of meeting the needs of the children, young people and families who access our services.

There is an opportunity within the team to expand on further Sensory Training and other training developments.

Main duties of the job

To provide Occupational Therapy input to children and young people referred to North Stoke CAMHS with particular emphasis on social and vocational inclusion. Liaise closely with other team members to support and provide specialist intervention as part of the care co-ordination process. To regularly supervise O.T. students on clinical placement. To uphold professional standards to ensure high standards and a quality clinical service. To assist in developing effective communication with other agencies. To evaluate the efficacy of the service offered through research and audit.

Job responsibilities

  • To discuss clients abilities to contribute appropriately to care plans.
  • To plan, administer and/or supervise specific goal orientated treatment programmes.
  • To monitor, evaluate and review treatment programmes and modify as appropriate.
  • To apply knowledge, understanding to the effects of disability or dysfunction on a clients physical, psychological and social well-being.
  • To work alongside other professionals involved in clients caseload both statutory and non-statutory.
  • To contribute to the wider holistic assessment of clients care pathway, ie. MDT meetings, case conferences.
  • To provide second opinions when requested for the purposes of application of the Mental Health Act.
  • Ability to assist in promoting O.T. Services through in-service training, presentations or staff/organisations as appropriate.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC Registered


Experience

  • Ability to carry own caseload specific to area.
