Moor Croft Ward at Foss Park Hospital are looking for enthusiastic Mental Health Nurses to join their team.

Main duties of the job
Moor Croft Ward is an acute assessment ward for people aged 65 years and older who are experiencing functional mental illness, many of which are supported home on their discharge from the ward.
Main duties include:
The MDT team consists of medical staff, psychology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language services, dietetics and physical health care, due to this we are able to offer a comprehensive assessment of each patient and their individual needs.
Daily MDT report outs and discussions aid the holistic approach to our care on Moor Croft Ward and contribute to the effective treatment and management of each patient, whilst considering discharge planning throughout their in-patient journey.

Job responsibilities
This role involves working in a fast pace inpatient environment for 18 patients with mental health problems.
It involves the delivery of high quality interventions to meet the needs of the patient, developed in collaboration with the patient, their families and the wider MDT whilst following best practice guidelines.
This post is only open to those candidates who already have their NMC registration in place and have successfully completed the preceptorship programme. Please note: Newly qualified applicants or those due to qualify will be recruited via our recruitment fairs.

- Assessing patient need and delivering appropriate and timely interventions.
- Safe administration and storage of medicines.

- Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD (RNSC - CAMHS only ) - RGN (If appropriate - Advert must indicate if the role is open to RGN nurses to apply)
- To be recognised practice assessor / mentor or work towards in an agreed timescale
- Trained Clinical Supervisor (within 6 month probationary period)
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Knowledge
Essential
- Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
- Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
- Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
- Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice
- Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
- Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections
