Are you an Accredited High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapist qualified in Talking Therapy Long Term Conditions interventions with a special interest in LTC and Long COVID? If so, we are delighted to offer an opportunity for candidates who want to work as part of a fantastic Talking Therapies Team and NHS Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a dedicated, enthusiastic, and innovative individual to join an evolving team. Working as a CBT therapist with a lead role in the LTC and Long COVID pathway within the East Riding Talking Therapies Service you will be responsible for the ongoing development of the pathways and provide treatment and supervision.

Main duties of the job

The Service supports people aged 16 + for Core Service and 18 + for integrated Talking Therapies in the community, providing a range of recovery focused Talking Therapy interventions for people with mild to moderately severe common mental health problems. We are contracted to provide treatment for a wide range of LTC conditions. The service provides a stepped care treatment approach.

The post holder will:
  • Provide assessment and treatment to users of the Service.
  • Manage a specialised caseload of predominantly LTC cases (core cases dependant on Service needs)
  • To work with staff in own area of responsibility to analyse the outcomes of audit and develop action plans for change/review the clinical effectiveness of treatment pathways.
  • To offer specialised supervision for LTC and Long COVID cases in Service
  • To attend Long COVID MDT clinics/meetings.
  • Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, working to the department's referral protocol
  • Engage in regular clinical and managerial supervision
  • Under the supervision of the Clinical Lead be responsible for the continued development of the LTC and Long COVID clinical pathways in line with National and local directives
  • Networking and liaising with key Stakeholders and local Services including physical health Services
  • Supported to attend dedicated CPD days with the Bespoke training package in the Service
  • Support a diverse population across the East Riding

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation, drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g. Mental Capacity Act, Social Inclusion, Child Protection
  • Full understanding/application of relevant clinical practice/standards/audit within identified clinical area.
  • Demonstrate specialist understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary care.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the impact that LTC and long COVID has on mental and physical health and the adaptions to treatment that maybe necessary.


Desirable

  • Evidence of project work that has impacted on practice and demonstrates a higher level of communication/planning/change that impacts within own area of work/responsibility.


Qualifications

Essential

  • A PGDip CBT qualification which meets the criteria for BABCP accreditation with evidence of experience delivering CBT in an IAPT service. Or IAPT qualification in High Intensity CBT Psychological Therapies with evidence of experience delivering qualified CBT in an IAPT service.
  • Talking Therapy Long term conditions top up qualification.


Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of working as a High Intensity CBT Therapist in an Talking Therapy Service- in core and LTC pathways.
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk assessments and management.
  • Experience of teaching and liaising with other professionals
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to the clinical area at specialist/advanced level of care


Desirable

  • Experience of developing clinical pathways
  • Experience of working in a MDT approach
  • Experience of liaising and networking with stakeholders/providers

Essential

  • Effective inter-personal skills and experience in mentoring
  • The ability to be resilient and maintain one's own wellbeing whilst working in stressful situations, managing a high volume caseload
  • Ability to demonstrate ethical values and attitudes within a culture of equality and diversity

  • Experience of giving clinical Supervision
