We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and suitably experienced Sister/Charge nurse to join Ward 23 at Barnsley Hospital.

Applicants are invited from experienced registered nurses who can demonstrate they have a range of transferable skills within an hospital setting.

Ward 23 is a 28 bedded General Medical Ward caring for patients with a range of medical conditions and are acutely unwell. You will join a multi-disciplinary team who are committed to providing high standards of care to patients.

The candidate should want to develop themselves as a sister/Charge nurse and hold an enthusiasm for service development and leadership. Candidates must be able to demonstrate clinical expertise and leadership skills.

We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a flexible approach and who is forward thinking, committed and keen to drive forward high standards of nursing care.

The Interview date for this role will be on 01/05/2024.

Main duties of the job

As Ward sister/charge nurse you will be expected to:

Ensure standards and quality of care given to patients are delivered and maintained to a high standard.

Ensure evidenced based practice is always performed and be responsible for updating own knowledge and skills in line with Trust policies and NMC code.

Be an effective leader and role model, actively participating in service development.

Support the Lead Nurse in ensuring the highest standard and quality of nursing care is delivered.

Act as Deputy to the Lead Nurse and manage the Ward in their absence

Provide support and clinical expertise to junior members of staff

Work flexibly to support the ward team on a full-time basis.
