The post holder supports the ward manager in the general management of the clinical environment, ensuring that a quality service is provided.
They will be responsible for the delivery of the training programme to a team of nurses, ensuring that staff within the team are supported and developed within their role.
Supporting Ward Manager to attain positive Ward Accreditation conducting one-to-one meetings with ward team to gain greater understanding and education of the fifteen standards of care, incorporating the 6Cs Compassion in Practice values. Ensuring Infection prevention standards are up held at all times.
They will be responsible for overseeing the team of nurses and healthcare assistants, monitoring their professional development through carrying out KSF appraisals.
The post holder will be a role model both clinically and professionally
Main duties of the job
Roles and Responsibility
Clinical:
Provide clinical nursing expertise and supervision for all grades of staff within the ward, to ensure a high standard of care.
Supervise the assessing, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care, thus providing high standards of patient care at all times.
Ensure that the care given reflects the hospital and departmental philosophies, standards and protocols.
Act as an effective role model and resource/advisor to colleagues, in the delivery of nursing care.
Assist the Ward Manager in facilitating the teaching, mentoring and assessment of staff and other disciplines.
Ensure that nursing practice reflects current clinical developments and is based on sound evidence.
Promote a healthy, positive and safe environment for patients and staff.
Advise patients, relatives and friends as appropriate on the promotion of health and prevention of illness.
Meet clinical objectives as agreed separately with the Ward Manager/Directorate Head Nurse.
Managerial:
Assist the Ward Manager in monitoring and appraising the performance of staff within their sphere of responsibility.
Be aware of the budgetary requirements within their clinical areas of nursing.
