We are pleased to advertise a 12 month Locum Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist post within the Croydon CAMHS service. Croydon CAMHS is an innovative, enthusiastic service. We have an exciting opportunity for one Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join the service for a 12 month period of time to offer input to the treatment team within the service.
Main duties of the job
To offer Consultant Psychiatry input to the treatment team within Croydon CAMHS. This would involve Psychiatric assessments, management of cases and providing support to the wider Multidisciplinary Team. There is also an expectation of involvement with neurodevelopmental assessments, therefore experience or interest in this field would be welcomed.
About us
Croydon CAMHS is a service that is aligned with the trusts expectations and use of care pathways to provide evidenced based interventions for young people with mental disorders. As a result, we have an assessment arm of the service and a treatment team that focuses on interventions. Croydon CAMHS provides assessments for neurodevelopmental assessments (including ASD) in the borough.
Our treatment team is an MDT which includes psychiatry, psychology, nursing, family therapy and other disciplines that service children and young people aged 0-18 years who are registered with a Croydon GP and have moderate to severe mental health difficulties. The consultant psychiatry post will involve consulting to care coordinators, direct clinical contact for diagnostic clarification, risk assessment, medication suitability etc. and follow ups. Attending the MDT meetings to contribute and oversee care planning in line with evidence based practice is also expected.
As part of South London and the Maudsley NHS Foundation trust, we also have access to National and Specialist services in variety of areas (e.g. Dialetical Behavioural Therapy, Eating Disorders). These cases may still have some involvement locally from our service.
