We are seeking to continue improvements in our staff experience by transforming the way that we manage Employee Relations at University Hospitals Leicester NHS Trust. We are seeking a number of Case Investigators to join our bank, to lead independent investigations. You will work closely with the Head of Employee Relations to deliver an independent view ensuring that investigations are undertaken in a timely manner with a compassionate, just and restorative focus.

As a Bank Case Investigator, you will with the relevant professional support from the Case Manager and HR, agree the terms of reference, carry out investigation interviews, compile outcome report and present at formal hearing/tribunals as appropriate.

Main duties of the job

You will support Employee Relations related investigations on behalf of UHL including (but not limited to) disciplinary, resolution, bullying & harassment, and whistleblowing investigations. This role will be key to embedding a Just Culture approach to employee investigations drawing on the UHL values to underpin the delivery of the role. Driving efficiency and innovation by ensuring that investigations are undertaken in a compassionate and succinct manner. You will continuedly improve colleague experience through specialist investigations skills and a compassionate leadership style.

Job responsibilities

  • Accountable for ensuring that investigations areundertaken to high standard, include all relevant information and completed within required timeframes.
  • The investigator will act as the Investigating Manager and will liaise with the Case Manager to gather the detail for the issues/concerns raised and agree the appropriateterms of reference outlining all areas that require investigation.
  • The investigator will be required to present the management case to internal formal hearings such as disciplinary hearings, appeal hearings etc. as a result of the findingsof the investigation.

Person Specification



  • Experience conducting investigations
  • Experience writing reports and presenting at panel hearings


  • Significant experience managing staff



  • Reporting writing



  • Knowledge of ACAS Code
