This is an exciting opportunity to work as a clinical lead nurse on a functional inpatient setting for mental health services for older people. You will be part of the nursing leadership team for the ward, manage shifts, provide supervision and work as an advocate for the patients within the MDT.
Main duties of the job
This is an opportunity for experienced clinicians to join a busy team working in an inpatient environment, within Mental Health Services for Older People. The vacancies are on Wold View Ward working with older adults with dementia and other cognitive impairments. You will be required to have strong skills in the management of care planning and risk management, coordinate and plan care for those with complex needs and work within a team making decisions based on comprehensive mental health.
You will be required to be innovative, flexible and able to engage clients with complex needs. Strong team working principles are essential and you will network with a variety of people as well as work in partnership with a range of different agencies both internal and external.

The successful candidate will be required to work closely with the MDT and management, provide support to staff through supervision and leadership.

Essential
- Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council. RMNH/RNLD
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
- Recognised Practice Supervisor and/or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent. Must be achieved within 6 months
- Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing clinical supervision OR willingness to work towards within 6 months
Experience
Essential
- Minimum of 12 months experience post completion of preceptorship experience working with people with mental ill health, Autism or Learning Disability in a care environment
- Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers.
- Providing clinical supervision to individuals or groups as professionally appropriate
- Supervising or assessing students on practice placement.
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Quality improvement activities
Knowledge/Skills/Experience

- Provide leadership and monitor, coordinate and prioritise the activities of a team
- Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers/families and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
