We are looking for a registered nurse to join our Diabetes Research team at the Ipswich site of East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust.

The role includes supporting study in Diabetes. You will be given the relevant training to the project you will be assigned to and you can work remotely if you prefer, but you maybe required to come to the office periodically to join the team meetings and support the team when it is necessary.

The Research and Development department at ESNEFT is an established clinical research unit hosting a variety of studies from NIHR portfolio and charitable funded studies, to commercially sponsored clinical trials of investigational medicinal products (CTIMPs). This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary team.

The post will further develop specialist research skills under the guidance of the Team leader and senior team members. We are keen to invest in and develop our staff and a variety of training opportunities will be provided.

Main duties of the job

A vital part of this role will be to ensure that you provide excellent research care to patients who have consented to participate in research.

An important aspect of the role will be the maintenance of highly accurate and comprehensive records of data derived from the research studies.

The role will be largely directed by senior team members however, you must be able to prioritise and manage their time and workload effectively.

They must be methodical and well organised in order to undertake research activities including following study protocols, clinical assessments, case report form completion, daily management and co-ordination of study participants.

You will work across a range of studies including observational research, novel drug therapy and clinical interventions.

Qualifications

  • Current NMC registration
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

  • Relevant teaching and mentoring experience

Experience

  • Proven post registration experience
  • Experience in diabetes management
  • Evidence of continuous personal, professional and academic development


Desirable

  • Research experience at band 5 or equivalent experience
  • Experience of delivering commercial and academic research
  • Management experience


Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge and understanding of evidence based practice.
  • Understanding and ability to apply clinical governance principles to practice.
  • Knowledge of developments in specialty and current issues driving nursing in general.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member and also autonomously, working within many speciality teams across the Trust.
  • Willingness to undergo personal development and learn new skills


Desirable

  • Understanding of legal and ethical requirements relating to patients, staff and research conduct.
  • Experience in managing complex information or projects
