Jim Quick is the Transplant Unit at MFT is the North West's only cardiopulmonary failure, transplantation and ventricular support device programme.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic nurse to develop skills to manage our patients complex & highly specialist needsin a highly specialized clinical area.

We are a 16 bedded specialist ward admitting patients for pre/post-operative and ongoing care. The ward incorporates 8 high observation beds providing a healthy patient to nurse ratio of between 4-6 patients dependent on acuity.

The role will suit newly qualified or experienced nurses who are eager to expand and progress their nursing practice.

A flexible approach to shift patterns is essential. Flexible working hours include part time and job share.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Jim Quick nursing team here at the Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT). We are looking for individuals with a genuine interest in Transplant Surgery who are hard working and passionate about delivering high standards of patient care and are motivated towards maintaining and improving their own skills.

Person Specification



  • First level registration - Registered Nurse
  • Degree or Diploma


  • Teaching Qualification
  • Degree level 6 study
  • Diploma



  • Knowledge of current nursing issues
  • Knowledge of clinical governance
  • IT/ Word Processing


  • Cardiology Knowledge



  • Experience of working on own and as part of a team
  • Ability to supervise and support junior staff.
  • Evidence of teaching and assessing skills/ability.
  • Awareness of clinical Audit


  • Evidence undertaking a mentor/preceptor role
  • Experience in relevant area of practice
