This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced paediatric nurse to support the development of all HealthCare Support Workers within the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. Working within the Faculty of Children's Nurse Education, you will be in a team of friendly and supportive staff who provide education for all nursing and support roles within the Children's Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the job include:

Planning, preparing and provision of induction for all HealthCare Support Workers

Planning, preparing and providing the development programme for trainees, apprentice and established HealthCare Support Workers

Clinical presence to support skills development and offer pastoral support across a variety of areas

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • RSCN/RN part 15 (Child Branch)
  • Educated to degree level, or evidence to demonstrate ongoing learning
  • Assessing and/or mentorship qualification


Desirable

  • Post-graduate teaching qualification/study related to education and training
  • Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or Training, Assessment & Quality Assurance (TAQA) qualification
  • Leadership and management development qualification


Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Good communication skills: written, verbal and non-verbal
  • Computer/IT skills
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • Ability to use a variety of IT software packages


Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in clinical practice
  • Classroom/clinical teaching experience
  • Possess skill and competency in relevant area of practice where there were opportunities to educate
  • Recent team and change management experience


Desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of Division and Trust wide nursing developments
  • Knowledge of current issues within nurse education and the ability to relate these to education within BRHC
  • Research and audit experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of key targets for the Division and Trust
