20 Hours per week

As a registered Children Nurse you will be responsible in developing Nursing practice within the Childrens Community Nursing team and wider agencies. Promoting and facilitating high standards of professional practice, competency and patient focused care. The role encompasses the co-ordination and development of training and education programs based on the needs of staff / external agencies and service delivery. The post holder will foster a learning culture which values high quality patient care, working in partnership with the matron and clinical lead nurse to ensure that goals and outcomes are achieved.

Main duties of the job

Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in Nursing care by the application of clinical expertise and positive role modelling. Being an expert Clinical Practitioner prioritising and planning workload to include working in clinical practice. Acting as a resource for the Childrens Community Nursing team.Working alongside Clinical staff providing support, coaching, mentorship and education both acute and community based.Be a visible and accessible point of contact for staff, coordinating staff developmentTo assist senior Nurses to enhance the quality of the clinical learning environment, by ensuring educational and developmental needs of Nursing students and registered Practitioners are addressed and supported effectively within the practice setting.

  • Please enter NMC pin



  • Registered Childrens Nurse (RSCN/RNC)
  • Member of relevant professional body (NMC)
  • Recognised teaching and assessing qualification
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Willingness to undertake further education in relation to Childrens Nursing


  • Holds a degree in a relevant health related subject
  • Has a train the trainer qualification
  • Up to date EPLS or equivalent



  • Knowledge and experiencing of working with children with complex medical needs
  • Knowledge of local, regional and national policies, practices and procedures e.g. NHS national policies, standards, requirements and directions that relate to Paediatric nursing and community care
  • Knowledge of autonomous practice and the challenges it presents
  • Knowledge of quality and service improvement methodologies
  • A good understanding of the changing NHS environment
