An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join the Pharmacy department's Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (ePMA) Team

We are looking for a dynamic, friendly, and flexible individual to seamlessly integrate with the existing team, bringing with them a range of skills that can be harnessed to grow our established services. Collaborative working is essential and your contribution to the team invaluable. You will have understanding and experience in the use of digital systems in the clinical setting and have an enthusiasm for promoting further development and use.

Main duties of the job

You will support the work of the Lead ePMA Pharmacy Technician and Lead ePMA Nurse to develop and promote safe use of the Emis ePMA and Pharmacy system to all users, broadening the availability and competent use of the electronic drug chart across the Trust's Acute and Community sites.

Collaborating closely with the Team, you will use your skills to help troubleshoot problems and advise on solutions, configure the system following governance processes, develop and deliver suitable training in multiple formats and promote the safe use of all digital systems. Your excellent communication skills will help you to convey ePMA related information to non-technical individuals and work closely with all stakeholders.

Our pharmacy service is provided across all Trust locations in Eastbourne, Hastings, Bexhill and Rye and the post holder will be expected to work flexibly and at any site.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • BTEC Pharmaceutical Science or Equivalent
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent pharmaceutical science
  • GPhC Registered Pharmacy Technician
  • Evidence of continued professional development


Desirable

  • Certified Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician
  • Certified Medicines Management / Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician
  • Certified Practice Supervisor
  • Member of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK
  • Specialist training in clinical informatics


Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of significant post-qualification UK hospital practice in dispensing and medicines optimisation
  • Experience of significant UK ward-based clinical pharmacy services (PODs and One-stop dispensing)
  • Experience of medication history-taking and medicines reconciliation processes
  • Experience of communicating with a multidisciplinary team


Desirable

  • Training experience to include 1:1, small group, and large group training
  • Experience of developing training packages / educational plan
  • Experience in using and developing digital systems
  • Previous experience of audit and / or research


Skills

Essential

  • Good keyboard and IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good problem identification and solving skills
  • Good time management, organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Specialist knowledge of UK hospital patient processes and medication issues
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team


Desirable

  • Knowledge of PC management
  • Transformation or change management experience
