Do you want to achieve your potential by playing a key role, working in a unit that is dedicated to providing exceptional reproductive care to service users? You will be working closely with other members of multi-disciplinary teams within reproductive medicine, Gynaecology and Women's health services. This role includes training, and supervising in all aspects of fertility treatment, ensuring regular audit and competency of fertility Nurses, Midwives and Healthcare assistants to ensure a safe and effective standard of patient care.

We are currently looking for a motivated nurse/midwife leader to join our team of nurse specialists. We are fully committed to your professional and personal development.

You will be required to provide expert leadership by supporting nursing/midwifery with safe, evidence based practice across the fertility Service. You will be responsible for the training and development of a small team of trainee fertility nurses, fertility nurses and support staff. You will work collaboratively with the quality manager, ensuring there are processes in place to support quality and governance.

Main duties of the job

To provide expert leadership in relation to education, quality and safety by supporting nursing with safe, evidence based practice across the fertility Service. You will be responsible for the training and development of a small team of trainee fertility nurses, fertility nurses and support staff. You will work collaboratively with the quality manager.

Person Specification



  • Registered Nurse or Midwife
  • Evidence of professional continuous development and portfolio of learning
  • Degree in Nursing/Midwifery or equivalent.


  • ILS Course
  • Ultrasound qualification
  • Educational Post graduate qualification



  • Ability to demonstrate an expert working knowledge of nursing in all areas of the Fertility service
  • Evidence of relevant clinical updating
  • Evidence of leadership
  • Experience of academic report writing / ability to interpret evidence


  • Involvement with clinical audit and research
  • Use of computerised information system
  • Participation and contribution to local Regional/National forums
  • Experience in clinical effectiveness
  • Awareness of contemporary NHS policy and reforms in health and social care i.e. the Strategy for Womens Health. Fertility Nurse Framework
  • Experience in engaging with service users and interpreting feedback into service improvements



  • Aware of current research and its impact on evidence based care.
  • Conversant with NMC rules governing practice
  • Demonstrate awareness and working knowledge of clinical governance
  • Knowledge of current reports/guidelines relating to Nursing Care and their implication
  • Understanding and requirements of the HEFA code of practice
  • Knowledge of CQC core service framework in relation to Gynaecology services
