As Digital Midwife you will play a key role in the implementation of the Trust's Maternity Digital Strategy. The post holder will provide clinical subject matter expertise to ensure the effective and efficient use of digital systems and technology used in maternity support the delivery of high quality and safe patient care. As such, the post holder will be supported to spend time in clinical practice to maintain their professional registration.
The Digital Midwife will be the liaison between maternity and the wider Digital Health Team, working collaboratively to challenge existing ways of working and identify improvements to ensure digital systems support maternity pathways. This will include recommending changes to processes and functionality in response to local service developments and national requirements, such as Better Births, Ockenden report and the NHS Long Term Plan.
Main duties of the job
Applying Knowledge and previous experience in maternity practice, the Digital Midwife will support the ongoing clinical adoption of existing systems and the implementation of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) solution across the department. This will include the development and delivery of a digital training programme for new starters and existing users within all staffing groups, ensuring accurate training records are kept and the most up to date version of training is delivered.
The Digital Midwife will be accessible and visible to all staff and act as a positive role model by being an advocate for the digital programme and any associated changes to clinical workflows. The post holder will be responsible for day-to-day system administration, problem solving and ad-hoc clinical support for the use of digital systems used in maternity.

To evaluate the digital systems used in maternity and their ability to meet recommendations that will enhance and improve patient safety.
Responsible for identification and appropriate escalation of any clinical safety issues associated with any new and existing clinical systems within maternity.
Provide professional leadership, including motivation of staff regarding the use of digital technology.
Act as an effective professional role model and expert clinician by being a change agent for technology development within the service, balancing this with realistic service needs.
Act as a leader within the maternity service promoting the use of existing and new digital systems.
Act as an advocate for the maternity department and work with the Trust digital health team to address any issues and concerns raised by end users.
Ensure the current business continuity plans support system unavailability and staff are fully aware of the plan.
Participation in Management On Call Rota.
