We are looking for a competent aseptic pharmacy technician to focus on leading and supporting aseptic clinical trials and also to lead on dispensary based clinical trials.

This is an exciting opportunity for an aseptic pharmacy technician to join our expanding team and develop their skills in clinical trials.

The team at Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust comprises of approximately 500 pharmacy staff working across five sites and is one of the biggest pharmacy departments in the country.

Main duties of the job

Be responsible for the day to day management of the clinical trials dispensing services, including aseptic clinical trials to maximise efficiency and product quality.

To implement developments within the clinical trial service and aseptic services to meet the needs of the patient.

To develop, train and motivate staff ensuring they feel valued both for their contribution to the department and as individuals.

Provide highly specialist technical expertise in the preparation of injectable investigational medicinal products (IMPs).

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • (Band 5 & 6) NVQ level 3 or BTEC level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceuticals Sciences (or equivalent)
  • (Band 5 & 6) GPhC Registration
  • (Band 6) BTEC level 4 Diploma in Pharamcy Clinical Services (or equivalent)
  • (Band 6) Completed training for in-process checks in aseptic department


Desirable

  • (Band 5) BTEC level 4 Diploma in Pharamcy Clinical Services (or equivalent)
  • (Band 5) Completed training for in-process checks in aseptic department


Experience

Essential

  • (Band 5 & 6) Previous experience of aseptic services
  • (Band 5 & 6) Experience in aseptic pharmacy
  • (Band 6) Evidence of working as part of the multi-disciplinary team
  • (Band 6) Experience of working within service development projects.
  • (Band 6) Experience of working in clinical trials
  • (Band 6) Experience in supervising a technical area within the pharmacy (i.e. medicines management of a ward area, dispensary, aseptics)
  • (Band 6) Experience in supervising a technical area within the pharmacy to degree level or equivalent


Desirable

  • Evidence of working as part of the multi-disciplinary team
  • (Band 5) Experience of working within service development projects.
  • (Band 5) Experience of working in clinical trials

  • (Band 6) Able to demonstrate specialist clinical trials knowledge (GCP,GMP), relevant or applicable to the job role, underpinned by theory or relevant practical experience
  • (Band 5 & 6) Able to demonstrate knowledge of aseptic processes, including relevant legislation
  • (Band 6) Appropriate Short Management Courses e.g. Appraisal training, Leadership skills
  • (Band 5 & 6) Developed IT skills


Desirable

  • (Band 5) Able to demonstrate specialist knowledge clinical trials knowledge (GCP GMP) relevant to applicable to the job role, underpinned by theory or relevant experience
  • (Band 5) Appropriate Short Management Courses e.g. Appraisal training, Leadership skills
