An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Paediatric dietetic team at The Evelina London Children's Hospital. We have a vacancy for a Band 8a Principal Paediatric Dietitian to lead and support our acute team encompassing our band 6 acute rotation programme, outpatients and Diabetes.

Main duties of the job

You will require extensive Paediatric experience, which will include having worked in a clinical Paediatric specialist area as you will continue to hold a clinical caseload. This clinical caseload will be discussed with the successful candidate on appointment.

The Paediatric dietetic service is well established and respected within the Evelina and the post holder will work closely with a number of MDT's. In addition, the post holder will be actively involved in the trust's clinical governance programme and quality agenda framework by taking lead responsibility for ensuring continuing professional development, audit and research activities. You must be able to demonstrate evidence of strong clinical leadership.

About us

You will join a wider Paediatric dietetic team of over 40 dietitians and dietetic assistants who cover a wide range of specialties including inherited metabolic disease, ketogenic diets, critical care, diabetes, renal, gastroenterology, respiratory, cardiology, complex feeding clinic and allergy.

The service is overseen by the Evelina London Lead Dietitian and the Paediatric team form part of the wider dietetic department of over 100 dietitians and focus on innovation, quality, education, development and well-being. This new role will work with the other Principal Paediatric Dietitians to support the development of the Paediatric Dietetic service.

Job responsibilities

Principal Paediatric Dietitian The acute team leader oversees the paediatric dietetic service across the Band 6 rotation programme, critical care and another speciality which will be determined by the successful candidates clinical background. The post holder will play a key role in the nutritional management of these patient groups and will provide highly specialist advice, education and support to patients, carers and other health professionals within the multidisciplinary team. In addition, the acute team leader is involved in the trusts clinical governance programme and quality agenda framework and takes lead responsibility for ensuring continuing professional development, audit and research activities within this specialist area.

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive specialist paediatric experience with significant experience within critical care, acute paediatrics, surgery, cardiology or Diabetes
  • Experience of training student dietitians
  • Working as part of a team
  • Previous experience of conducting audits and / or clinical research
  • Team leader and line management experience


Desirable

  • Leadership/ management qualification


Knowledge/Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Dietetics or equivalent
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent post graduate qualification or demonstration of working at master level in paediatric dietetics
  • HCPC registration
  • Leadership/ management qualification


Desirable

  • Member of the BDA
  • Member of the BDA paediatric group
  • Member of relevant specialist Interest Group
