Band 6 Health adviser post to cover maternity leave fixed term contract

We are looking to appoint an individual who is hardworking, motivated and energetic to join a well-established health advising team in a busy sexual health, contraception and HIV department for a period of nine months to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will have excellent HIV and sexual health knowledge, underpinned with current experience of working within a sexual health/ HIV setting. Previous or current experience of working as a sexual health adviser would be an advantage.

This is a 15 hour per week post. The post will include working some Saturdays (on a rotational basis)

The role is based within the Health Adviser team in SHAC. You will be working within a large MDT. Training and support will be provided.

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate will have experience of working with vulnerable groups, especially MSM. An awareness of issues surrounding Substance misuse, including Chemsex, and support and management for users is advantageous. A well developed understanding of partner notification processes and issues are also essential. Candidates should have an excellent knowledge and previous experience of managing safeguarding concerns.

Job responsibilities

The role will encompass the processing of complex positive results including HIV and Syphilis and speaking to patients in the phone to discuss in depth results. The role also involves discussions about partner notification and use of SXT digital partner notification tool. Please see attached job description for full details.
