Job Details

We are looking for Occupational Therapists who are newly qualified, or have existing experience as a Band 5 and are looking to develop their knowledge, skill and experience, in a supportive environment, with a strong and clear Occupational Therapy ethos. We also welcome applicants who are already practicing at Band 6 level but are looking for something new and exciting.

Are you an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Occupational Therapist, who is keen to learn and develop?

Are you passionate about offering quality services and best practice in Older Adult Mental Health?

If the answer is yes - then you are the perfect person to apply! We welcome applicants with diverse, innovative and creative ideas, which would support the continued development of this service. We are keen to support your commitment to professional development, through 1-1 support, peer support, local, divisional and Trust wide CPD and training.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will hold a caseload of service users who's needs are around Occupational identity, performance and participation. They will provide assessment and intervention aimed at improving these areas in order for the service users to live the lives they want and need. As a Band 5 you would not be required to work weekends, cover the duty rota or care coordinate. Once you have worked through your competencies towards a Band 6, you would then occasionally be required to work weekends, bank holidays and duty on a rota basis. However, additional training and support would be provided to support this transition.

You will join the Occupational Therapists, within a well-established multi-disciplinary community mental health team (CMHT), based at Humphrey Booth Resource Centre in Salford. We have two Senior Band 6 Occupational Therapists and a Band 7 Occupational Therapy Senior Practitioner within the team, in addition to this vacancy. The CMHT provides a specialist mental health service to older adults and their carers across Salford. The Occupational Therapy pathway is well established and is continuing to develop in line with forward thinking Community Transformation plans, which support our professionals to practice in a way which closely aligns to their professional training and backgrounds.

You will be provided with a full range of mandatory training and CPD opportunities with a particular emphasis on developing skills within the Model of Human Occupation.
