The Gibraltar Health Authority invites applications from suitably qualified Charge Nurse – Catheterisation Laboratory, who by virtue of their citizenship are entitled to take up employment and who are, or on employment will be, resident in Gibraltar.

This post has arisen at an exciting time for our service with the introduction of a new, purpose-built interventional cardiac suite due to be completed in September 2024. The post holder will be required to manage the cardiac catheter laboratory and would be expected to have extensive prior experience in cardiac intervention.

The successful applicants may be required to attend a professional development placement and further Management training.

Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory located at the southernmost tip of the Iberian Peninsula, with a population of just over 33,000, augmented by a further 13,500 regular daily workers from Spain and several thousand short-term visitors during the holiday periods. Gibraltar’s health service is independent from the UK-NHS but is organized and modelled similarly and follows traditions of British medical practice, including professional regulation with UK bodies. The epidemiology is similar to Western European affluent nations and the health services provided are of a high quality. The official language is English and competence in written and spoken English is a requirement of the post

Gibraltar offers an attractive standard of living with a good work life balance. Apart from year-round pleasant weather, it offers plenty of leisure opportunities, good schools and a family-friendly environment. It is easily reached from London in about 2½ hours’ flying time and has more than 20 flights a week to UK destinations. There is a land border with Spain and Malaga airport is just 1½ hours’ drive away, offering further extensive links to global destinations.

The post is offered on a fixed-term two-year contract with a one-year probation period and carries the following salary scale: £38,414, £39,755, £41,095, £42,439, £43,949, £46,128 and £47,473.

Return economy class airfares from the UK are payable in full. A rented accommodation allowance is payable solely whilst on a fixed term contract and upon submission of an official rental agreement and a Gibraltar Civilian Registration card.

Candidates will participate in a group observation exercise and be asked to carry out a 10-minutes presentation during the interview on the following topic:

“What are the challenges of developing a cardiac interventional nursing team in Gibraltar.”

Prospective candidates are encouraged to contact Ms. Romina Moreno, Divisional Clinical Lead for Medicine at romina.moreno@gha.gi and Dr. Roger Moore, Consultant Cardiologist at roger.moore@gha.gi for an informal discussion about the duties and responsibilities of the post.

Application packs, inclusive of application form and job description, may be obtained from GHA Workforce, via email at recruitment@gha.gi.

Duly completed applications forms must be scanned and submitted by clicking Apply Now by no later than 13:00pm on Friday 12th April 2024.
