A rare opportunity within a senior level position has arisen at East Sussex Healthcare Trust as we are looking for a Programme Delivery Director (Discharge) -Sussex Health & Care Partnership (SHCP)

The Programme Delivery Director will lead on the further development & delivery of the programme in collaboration with commissioners & providers across the healthcare system. East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust will act as the host for this post on behalf of the SHCP to align with existing programme delivery SRO arrangements.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide programme and delivery leadership through overseeing delivery of the SHCP's Discharge and Social Transformation and Improvement Programme taking forward the recommendations and agreed priorities that have emerged from the discharge front runner and improvement programme delivery in 2023-24. They will lead the programme working to the system programme SRO working across commissioning, clinical, provider and partner organisations, to align strategies and priorities and programme delivery.

The base can be agreed at appointment.

The post holder will be required to travel between offices in Sussex in order to liaise with colleagues across the footprint and attend various meetings.

Person Specification



  • Educated to master's degree or equivalent relevant post graduate professional qualification
  • Management qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • Evidence of substantial continuing professional and personal development, including project / change management, budget management and service development
  • Extensive knowledge of financial, performance and staff management gained through senior management experience and/or qualification


  • Clinical qualification or qualification related to service provision (e.g. commissioning) relevant to the programme
  • Project management qualification ie Prince 2



  • Credible and in-depth experience of managing system wide programmes within the NHS
  • Extensive experience of managing relevant NHS services or commissioning programmes
  • Extensive experience of senior management in a complex healthcare organisation or similar environment
  • Extensive experience of using data and information to influence and drive forward projects, policies and procedures
  • Extensive experience of manipulating, analysing and modelling complex data and information to support decision making and strategic planning
  • Evidence of successfully leading teams and/or services to deliver successful change projects, embedding a culture of patient centeredness and quality in practice
