Lead specialist providing advanced clinical care in adult Hearing Therapy within a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include managing tinnitus, hyperacusis, and Auditory Processing Disorder (APD), as well as providing communication and relaxation training. Develop and maintain care pathways and SOPs for efficient and accessible patient care. Provide clinical supervision and education for peers, junior staff, and students. Autonomously lead complex, non-routine activities to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Main duties of the job

You will be an experienced Audiologist capable of leading an experienced team of senior audiologists in the delivery of a hearing therapy service. Your clinical responsibilities include delivering a full tinnitus and sound sensitivity service to a challenging patient demographic group. You will need to ensure that the service remains up to date with national protocols and standards, while always ensuring that the team stays up to date with developments in the field. You will maintain good working relationships with other professionals and organisations to ensure a strong network of referrals is maintained. You will also play a critical role in the overall management of the audiology service, with extensive line managing responsibilities. A strong background in Therapy is highly desirable

Person Specification



  • *BSc Audiology (or equivalent)
  • *Registration with (RCCP, HCPC, AHCS, HAD)
  • *Appropriate Certificate to Practice in Audiology


  • *Membership of BAA, BSA
  • *Hearing Therapy Certificate or Diploma
  • *MSc Audiology or equivalent experience at M-Level
  • *Recognised Leadership Qualification
  • *Certificate / Diploma or equivalent in counselling
  • *Certificate of Teaching Lipreading to Adults (or equivalent)



  • *5 Years post Qualification experience in Audiology
  • *Experience working within rehabilitation.
  • *Experience of managing patients with severe to profound hearing loss
  • *Experience of managing patients with Tinnitus
  • *Using counselling skills with patients
  • *In depth knowledge of hearing and tinnitus pathways
  • *Good understanding of management strategies for patients with tinnitus, hyperacusis and APD (auditory processing disorders).


  • *Experience of line managing staff.
  • *Teaching communication and stress management skills to individuals and groups
  • *Experience in participating in clinical supervision.

Additional Criteria


  • *Ability to be mobile, if required, operating across UHB sites plus potential national and international travel. This may involve occasional overnight stays
