You will act as a liaison between D& I, Estates and the Trust to understand complex business and clinical processes, mapping these to potential solutions, articulating potential benefits and risks and contributing to strategic outline and full business cases.To do so, you will develop in-depth knowledge of multiple complex and specialist systems used in the planning, management and maintenance of our future buildings, digital innovations and enabling an environment that supports our patients and staff in a digital future.You will have or will develop in-depth knowledge of national initiatives such as the governments New Hospitals Programme and support our business case with digital initiatives for the here and now, and long-term roadmap.You will need to be able to develop understanding of the current, complex mix of solutions and their challenges in a manner which minimises clinical risk whilst supporting seamless and high-quality information flows.

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS at Risk staff throughout Devon who is able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing support to key stakeholders, including the Head of Enterprise Solutions Architecture, Lead Integration and Solutions Architect, and leaders such as the Chief Information Officer, Chief Technical Architect, and Chief Support Officer.
  • Aligning Estates and Digital requirements with Digital and Trust strategies, collaborating within the Solutions Architecture Team and with senior Estates stakeholders to define target architecture, business cases, and future state roadmaps.
  • Identifying and capturing new organisational needs, creating detailed process maps, and outlining business requirements to inform digital and estates strategies.
  • Maintaining a detailed knowledge of complex organisational processes and systems supporting patient care.
  • Conducting gap analysis in collaboration with stakeholders on different approaches to digital integrated care solutions.
  • Working closely with various teams, such as Estates, Transformation, Integration, Software Development, Clinical Systems, Training, Performance, and organisational stakeholders, is necessary for architecting integrated digital solutions supporting place-based care and patient pathways.
  • Producing proposals and detailed specifications for solutions that enable the effective delivery of integrated care across teams, services, and organisations is a key aspect of the role.

  • Ensure the Estates and Digital & Innovation Services requirements align seamlessly with the overarching Digital and Trust strategies. Collaborate closely within our Solutions Architecture Team, leveraging collective expertise to refine and articulate target architecture, develop compelling business cases, and construct strategic roadmaps for the envisioned future state. Forge strong partnerships with senior Estates stakeholders to incorporate their valuable insights, ensuring that the resulting plans are not only technologically sound but also strategically aligned with the broader organisational objectives. This collaborative approach aims to create a robust foundation that harmonises digital and estate considerations for optimal efficiency and effectiveness in line with our shared vision.

Person Specification



  • Demonstrable experience of working within large clinical setting IT systems
  • Demonstrable knowledge of process mapping


  • Building Information Modelling Foundation/Practitioner



  • Significant demonstrable experience of Service Line management
  • Demonstrable experience of document writing


  • TOGA certified



  • Educated to degree level or similar relevant discipline or equivalent demonstrable experience
