We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Support Officer to join our friendly team at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity!

Your main focus will be to support the senior management team with the administration and business areas in the charity team, specifically with the administration of legacies, administration and financial recording of all donations and income, CRM databases and to be responsible for the smooth processing of internal charity funding applications.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven individual who has experience in working for a charity and has a sound understanding of the fundraising landscape and how to raise substantial funds to support our local hospitals. You will thrive in a busy environment, be able to work on your own initiative and manage your workload independently.

UHD NHS Charity raises funds to enhance patient care, treatment, services and support staff welfare and development.

Main duties of the job

You must have experience of charity, processing funding applications and financial processes as you'll be responsible for supporting legacy fundraising/administration, all income/donation administration and overseeing both the financial and funding administration processes.

Supporting the senior management team with:
  • ensuring the correct processing of charity funding applications from submission to approval
  • liaison with fund signatories, care groups and clinical areas
  • supervision and support to the fundraising administrators, ensuring agreed processes are followed
  • administration and recording of legacy donations and notifications
  • promotion of legacies
  • stewardship and cultivation programme for legacy pledgers
  • CRM database management

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable and relevant experience in regards to working within the fundraising department of a charity
  • Demonstrable and relevant experience in regards to relationship fundraising and fundraising databases
  • Demonstrable and relevant experience in regards to project management


Desirable

  • Experience of working in a hospital charity or NHS
  • Experience of working with volunteers


Technical Skills and Competencies

Essential

  • Excellent planning and organising skills with demonstrable ability to adapt plans to meet strategic aims.
  • Ability to assess, analyse and report on a range of activities and metrics
  • Ability to line manage and deliver specialist training to other staff with regard to fundraising techniques and methods


Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of charity fundraising techniques and methods
  • Knowledge of charity legislation, gambling legislation, gift aid legislation and the Fundraising Regulator codes of practice
  • Awareness, understanding and ability to apply data protection regulation


Other requirements

Essential

  • Able to work occasional evenings and weekends and across hospital sites
  • Ability to travel


Qualifications

  • Degree level or equivalent demonstrable experience


Desirable

  • Institute of Fundraising Certificate
