Band 7 Advanced Treatment Planning Dosimetrist

The Radiotherapy Physics Section is responsible for providing a clinical scientific and technical service to the Radiotherapy Department within the Berkshire Cancer Centre of the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.

Functions include: performing radiotherapy planning and checking for external beam and brachytherapy treatments advising clinical staff on scientific and technical issues determining patient-received doses.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will work as part of the team providing a Radiotherapy Physics service to the Berkshire Cancer Centre. The role is to primarily support safe, accurate and efficient treatment planning of external beam radiotherapy and associated activities, ensuring a high standard of patient care.

The post-holder will also be expected to lead and take responsibility for specific areas in the delivery of the routine service and to support service development and the implementation of evidence-based practice dependent on the needs of the service.

This post has a direct impact on patient treatments and occasionally brings the post holder into direct contact with patients during their treatment. The post-holder will be expected to liaise with a wide range of professional staff groups, at all levels within the Trust and with external equipment manufacturers.
