Staff Nurse - Haematology and Chemotherapy

It is an exciting time to work at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust as we plan our move into the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital next year. The friendly chemotherapy team are looking for a band 5 nurse to support the chemotherapy day unit. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated nurse with experience of looking after cancer patients, and excellent communication skills. Phlebotomy, cannulation and administration of chemotherapy skills would be an advantage, but a willingness to learn is essential. Successful applicants will have individual development plans tailored to their needs and to support their career ambition.

Main duties of the job

All aspects of care of the outpatient haematology patient. This will include taking bloods, supporting the administration of chemotherapy and blood products, and delivering the best supportive care

    Person Specification

    Experience

    Essential

    • Relevant clinical experience (including as a student nurse)
    • Post registration experience
    • Computer literate


    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration


    Desirable

    • Competent in venepuncture and cannulation
    • Competent in administration of chemotherapy
    • Teaching and assessing qualification
