We are looking for part time Band 6 Specialist Practitioner and Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) Supervisor to join our Mental Health Support Teams in Schools (MHST) based in Torbay. In line with the government’s priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, MHST are responsible for delivering mental health support across a range of educational settings. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their competencies across service delivery within an early intervention mental health model.

The role is dynamic and challenging. You will provide assessments and hold an active caseload of children and adolescents with mild moderate emotional and mental health difficulties, delivering evidence-based 1:1 and group interventions, employing the principles underpinning the national CYPMH Children and Young People’s Mental Health programme and the Whole School Approach.

Low intensity, early intervention will be delivered in a range of education settings. You will build relationships with key stakeholders in educational provisions, to introduce and develop the Whole School Approach, alongside EMHP’s.
About you
We seek to appoint enthusiastic and dynamic individuals who are passionate about Early Intervention, with a demonstrable track record of CAMHS experience and keen to develop leadership skills.

You will be an experienced and qualified professional (RMN, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or equivalent). The ability to adapt communication and intervention style to meet individual need is important and you will have knowledge of child development and child protection procedures.

Using both evidence based practice and routine outcome measures, you will use a strength-based approach to work collaboratively with people, in line with key CYP-IAPT principles.

Key areas of focus for the this role will be:
  • Educational Mental Health Practitioner Support and Supervision
  • Delivering early, low intensity Intervention in accordance with the evidence base.
  • To build and maintain relationships key professionals in our partner schools.
  • Supporting the development of the MHST service
  • Building positive relationships with our colleagues in wider CAMHS and other key agencies.

It is anticipated that interviews will take place w/c 18th July via MS Teams.
About us
Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of six NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon. CFHD provides integrated care & treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health i.e. Children in Care, Therapies, including OT, Physiotherapy, SALT, learning disability and autism, community & other nursing and mental health services which are provided by Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust and Devon Partnership Trust. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure to deliver locality-placed based, integrated access to all of our services, based on the i-Thrive Framework, in response to wide-ranging consultation with our service users and communities.

CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinical training placements and in addition support our staff to undertake postgraduate training. We actively engage service users and their families in co-design which is facilitated by a dedicated young person’s lead role who also works closely with Young Devon who provide additional co-design and feedback through the Devon young people’s champions group.
