An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the Day Surgery Centre (DSC) within Breast, OMFS, ENT, Vascular, Neuro and Orthopaedic surgery specialties. We are looking to recruit an experienced candidate who can demonstrate a dynamic approach to their work and who has commitment, motivation and enthusiasm to drive the development of the Day Surgery service forward.

The post requires the ability to undertake 7 day working . There is also an on-call commitment.

Main duties of the job

As the successful candidate
  • You will have at least 2 years post-registration experience, preferably within a Day Surgery setting and be competent in a minimum of 2 aspects of Day Surgery disciplines (Theatre / Recovery / Pre/Post-Operative Care).
  • You will be predominantly responsible for Theatres 1 and 2 within the DSC covering Breast, OMFS, ENT and Vascular surgery.
  • You should be prepared to rotate between the disciplines of PACU, Theatres and Pre/Post-Operative Care depending on the demands of the service.

The DSC provides a busy sometimes challenging environment and therefore you should be forward thinking and passionate about delivering a high standard of care.

Applicants should have an enthusiastic approach to teaching students and junior members of staff and have a clear idea regarding your career development and be a team player with a flexible attitude to meet the service needs.

You will be responsible for ensuring the effective running of the department, providing clinical leadership and managerial support in the absence of the Charge Nurse/ODP, working as a highly skilled member of the multidisciplinary perioperative team, practicing a high standard of clinical care and being key to improve the patient's experience.

The post holder will supervise the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care during their span of duty and support and encourage the concept of team working, team development and collaboration between team members
