Public Health and Transformation Matron
The post holder will lead on quality issues and be responsible for the implementation, administration and monitoring of public health and maternity transformation programmes, with responsibility for performance management of key indicators. The post holder will have a high profile, be an accessible and responsive leader who is able to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice, involving pregnant women and other stakeholders to ensure agreed standards and targets are met. The post holder will focus on the implementation and sustainability of specialist teams, including but not limited to, Infant feeding, Pelvic Health, Mental health and Contraception.
In addition the post holder will support and continue with the implementation of the national agenda of MCoC (maternity continuity of carer) to be the default model for all women. The lead will support current MCoC teams in place and provide influence and support to implement continuity for all of CHS women once safe staffing levels within maternity have been achieved.
This role is intrinsic to the future success of our maternity transformation plans and whilst data collection and audit is certainly part of this, the lead will be expected to work closely with the consultant midwife, community matron, birth centre lead and have over-sight of all continuity teams.
Main duties of the job
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To provide professional and managerial support to the Director of Midwifery/Divisional Manager in relation to maternity services.
2. The post holder will be expected to provide guidance, support and leadership to all midwifery, nursing and support staff within the maternity unit.
3. Jointly working with the Director of Midwifery, and Clinical Lead the post holder will set the strategic direction for public health and transformation.
4. The post holder will be required to explore current practice, identifying areas for development, and planning the appropriate change using research and experience to evaluate outcomes.
5. The post holder will deputise for the Directorate Management Team as required.
6. To lead on the implementation of the recommendations of national policy documents in relation to named area of responsibility.
