An exciting opportunity has become available for a Matron in Local Services at Broomfield Hospital . The Matron will be a highly visible, accessible, and authoritative presence in clinical areas to which patients, their families and others can turn to for leadership, assistance, advice, and support.

The Matron's Role will focus on:

  • The succesful candidate will work under the leadership of the ADoN and DDoN for Local Services and along with their Matron collegues support the Senior Sisters/Charge Nurses in providing high quality harm free care. Demonstrable experience at Senior Sister level in an acute ward/depeartment is essential to understand the issues and challenges that you will be supporting.

    Whilst the post holder holder will be responsible for a specific area, they will be required to provide cross cover to their collegues and provide overall leadership to the 11 inpatient Medical Wards, Day Therapies Unit and General Outpatients that comprises Local Services.

    Main duties of the job

    The role will provide visible nurse leadership and professional support to staff, patients & their families across the hospital.

    Accountable and responsible for the delivery of safe, high-quality services the post holder will need to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery. Therefore, we are seeking a senior nurse who has strong leadership skills, who is able to work under pressure and is passionate about delivering innovative practice.

    You will need knowledge, skill and attention to detail to continue to deliver real improvements in quality. Above all, we are looking for an individual who has a passion for making a difference and is committed to delivering excellent patient care in a safe environment.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Registered General Nurse
    • Evidence of post registration development at Degree level
    • Minimum 2 years senior ward management and/or outpatient experience


    Desirable

    • Masters Degree or working towards


    Knowledge and Experience

    Essential

    • Knowledge of current clinical practise in an acute setting
    • Experience of partnership and MDT working
    • Implementing complex change in the clinical setting
    • Staff development and budget setting


    Desirable

    • Experience across the scope of the Matron's ten key roles with potential to do all


    Communication skills and abilities

    Essential

    • Well developed written and verbal communicate skills
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Evidence of managerial skills including people, financial and resource
    • Well developed leadership skills
