At HMP Stoke Heath we are looking to expand our healthcare team and develop specialists in medication management and administration. Main duties of the job

A typical day will consist of:
  • Administration of medications for both physical health and mental health conditions, including controlled medications
  • Dealing with queries from Healthcare staff, Prison officers and patients
  • Supporting the delivery of medicines to medication hatches on the prison wings.
  • Working alongside our pharmacist to ensure correct and secure storage of medicines

Supervision on a day-to-day basis will be provided by the onsite Lead Pharmacist and Head of Healthcare. As well as appropriate professional supervision and management support.

You will have opportunities to join the wider pharmacy team meetings which is attended by --pharmacy staff working in community hospitals, virtual ward and vaccine services

The post requires an excellent team player who has great organisation skills and has a tenacity to see tasks through to completion. If you are enthusiastic, motivated and ready for a challenge then you are the person we are looking for.

Person Specification



  • Hold a recognised NVQ Level 3, BTEC or equivalent qualification in a pharmaceutical field.
  • Have a current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Be willing to participate in any relevant training identified to develop skills required to carry out duties.
  • Maintains a portfolio of CPD in line with regulatory body standards



  • Able to demonstrate post-qualification experience.
  • Demonstrates understanding of pharmacy standards

Knowledge and Skills


  • Theoretical and clinical knowledge appropriate to service area and profession
  • Knowledge of relevant current issues in health and social care
  • Knowledge of Standards of Conduct
  • Demonstrates awareness of limits to knowledge base
  • Basic understanding of clinical governance and quality measures
  • Assessment, planning and evaluation skills
