We are pleased to offer a part time Band 7 Team Leader post in the Fetal Assessment Unit at Leeds.

The role requires you to work as an expert clinical practitioner within the department to deliver direct patient care whilst managing, leading and co-ordinating midwifery and maternity support worker practice. You will be able to oversee and develop the policies and practices that operate within the clinical area.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be an experienced Midwife and/or Midwife Sonographer responsible for the effective management of the Fetal Assessment Unit at Leeds Teaching hospitals trust. The postholder will be compassionate, accessible and responsive leader ensuring delivery of a high standard of evidence-based care to patients and their families assuring a positive patient journey throughout pregnancy.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in projects and audits within the Womens CSU and promote quality improvement of the Fetal assessment service and to represent the department at appropriate Trust meetings.

Job Title: Team Leader Maternity

Department: Maternity - Fetal Assessment Unit

Location SJUH/LGI

LTHT is made up of two large teaching hospitals, and has an annual birth rate of over 10,000. The post holder will work at both acute units and liaise with relevant health professionals within the Trust and primary care colleagues in Leeds.

The role requires direct management of a team of midwives and maternity support workers.

The jobholder is responsible for the ward/department clinical budget as determined by finance for each year.

The Jobholder will have responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the maternity ward/department). They will provide clinical and professional management and leadership for the team. The jobholder is responsible for ensuring the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care are maintained to a high standard. They will manage the administrative and financial aspects of Ward/department and ensuring cost.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent
  • Registered Midwife
  • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
  • Masters degree or working towards
  • Evidence of continued professional development and willing to undergo training as necessary
