This is an exciting opportunity for senior occupational therapists with clinical and leadership experience to be a Practice Development Lead across the Community & Inpatient pathways. They will also contribute an OT specific perspective to the Older People's Senior Leadership Team.

The post holder will need experience and confidence in driving innovation and excellence in older people's mental health and dementia practice. They will need to work closely with community and inpatient clinical teams within older people's services and maintain good working relationships with teams. An important component of this role will involve providing profession specific leadership and support to occupational therapy clinicians working in older people's services. This includes developing OT clinical practice based on evidence-based standards and providing expertise to enhance older people's experiences.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside service managers, other Practice Development Leads and key clinical stakeholders to support clinical teams through effective partnership working to meet the needs of older people and their carers. They will support and facilitate clinical teams to drive quality standards aligned to profession specific and clinical priority areas that are identified within clinical governance forums. They will need to work flexibly and follow the principles of agile working to continuously network and engage with clinical teams and partner organisations; with the overall aim of improving older people's experiences and outcomes, particularly recovery and wellbeing.

The post holder will need to demonstrate expertise and knowledge around occupational therapy and promote and value the occupational therapy workforce, contributing to role development in the context of continued organisational change. They will need to be positive and enthusiastic and be capable of promoting evidence-based practice, coordinating and facilitating service improvement projects and ensuring OT professional development. The post holder will need to have high level organisation, communication and analysis skills. They will need to be comfortable with managing and prioritising competing demands. The post holder will need to be aware of both local and national policies and agendas around community and inpatient mental health for older people and be able to embrace service change and developments.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential

• Occupational Therapist with significant clinical experience in community and / or inpatient services

Experience Essential

• Demonstrates extensive experience and knowledge of occupational therapy.
• Has experience in a senior role (Band 6 or above) for at least two years. Evidence of contributing to project work and ability to think strategically.

Knowledge Essential

• Demonstrates an enthusiasm to support the emergence of new roles as well as support the OT specific practice agenda.
• Demonstrates experience and knowledge related to older people's mental health and dementia.

Skills Essential

• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with others as a facilitator of positive change and learning & can develop implementation plans with teams.
